About the procedure
When Should a Newborn Circumcision be Scheduled?
IDEAL: 1-3 WEEKS AFTER BIRTH
This allows time for your baby to establish feeding, adjust to life at home, and ensure there are no postpartum concerns while minimizing the risks of the procedure.
4-8 WEEKS OF AGE
Circumcision can also be performed between four and eight weeks of age (up to 12.5 lbs.) The procedure may be more difficult and is associated with a slightly higher risk of bleeding.
AFTER 8 WEEKS
Circumcision for older infants and children requires referral to a specialty centre. Dr. Radan does not provide this service.
The Plastibell Procedure
Dr. Radan performs newborn circumcision using the Pastibell technique.
A small plastic ring is placed beneath the foreskin and secured with a thread. The excess foreskin is removed, and the ring remains in place temporarily. It naturally separates and falls off on its own as the area heals.
